Chris Brown Walks the Grammy Red Carpet Without Rihanna

 Just a day after totaling his Porsche in an alleged paparazzi chase, Chris Brown made it to the Grammys. Solo. Well, for the red carpet, at least.

Instead of making a grand entrance with Rihanna, as was rumored, the star walked the red carpet on his own. He wore an all-white Lanvin tux with two giant diamond stud earrings and did an awkward half-smile thing in front of the cameras.

But, of course, as soon as the show started, the exes were perched next to each other in the Staples Center.

 These two have been posting joint Twitter pics for months now, but this was their first truly public appearance in years. Big stuff — especially since the pair didn't make it to the 2009 Grammys because of that whole domestic violence incident.

Brown didn't talk about his relationship with Rihanna on the red carpet, but he did open up about his wrecked car with interviewer Ryan Seacrest. "I'll get another one," he laughed. "Insurance is good."

When asked what caused him to wipe out into a wall, Brown said: "A couple of crazy things. Paparazzi tend to get out of hand. It's all good, though. No injuries."

The singer ended the interview on a high note, saying the show is "a great and elegant place to be." He also gave props to Miguel, his competitor in Best Urban Contemporary Album category. "He's doin' his thing," Brown mused, without mentioning Frank Ocean, who's also up for an award in that category. He and Ocean had a parking lot scuffle a few weeks ago, so Brown was probably sticking with the "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" rule.
